    Begnas Lake area with a number of resorts is a popular destination for tourists visiting Pokhara , Nepal.Begnas Lake is a freshwater lake in Pokhara – Lekhnath Metropolis of Kaski district of Nepal located in the south-east of the Pokhara Valley. The lake is the second largest, after Phewa lake, among the seven lakes in Pokhara Valley.

      TAAN International Langtang Marathon concludes

      Kathmandu: Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN) organized 3rd TAAN International Langtang Marathon 2018 in Langtang region with the theme of “Adventure Sports for Sustainable Tourism”.

      The 42.195 kilometers marathon started from Kyanjin Gompa (3,870 m) and went through Godha Tabela, Lama Hotel, Rimche, Sherpagaon, Khangjim before concluding at Syabrubensi on Saturday.

      A total of 100 runners participated  at the event including 5 foreigners.

      In the men’s category, Khagendra Bhatt from Nepal Army won first with 3 hours 49 minutes and 27 seconds. Trailing behind in second was Bharat Khatri from Nepal Army with 4 hours 6 minutes and 18 seconds while Subas Karki secured third with 4 hours 7 minutes and 58 seconds.

      Similarly, in the women’s category, Nirkala Kulung Rai from Solukhumbu , Purna Maya Rai from Solukhumbu and  Sarita Basi from Nepal Army won the top three positions respectively .

      364 climbers heading to the summit of Mt. Everest 

      Kathmandu: More than 277 climbers have scaled Mt. Everest till May 19, according to information received from Everest Base Camp. A total of 364 climbers from 38 expedition teams have set their journey to the summit of Mt. Everest this year. A team of 8 rope fixing guides became the first climbers to reach the summit on May 13. Climber Kami Rita Sherpa scaled Mt. Everest  22 times setting the world record this season.

      Chinese 70-year-old double amputee climber scales Mt. Everest

      Kathmandu:  Xia Boyu, 70, scaled the world’s highest mountain Mt. Everest as the first double amputee climber from the Nepali side on May 14, 2018. Chinese climber Xia had lost both his legs in 1975 during his first attempt to reach the summit due to frostbite. So far, the only double amputee to summit Qomolangma is Mark Inglis from New Zealand, who had scaled the peak from China’s Tibet side in 2006.

      Quake-hit Kasthamandap reconstruction begins

      Kathmandu : After three years of the devastating earthquake that shattered the country, Nepal started reconstruction of the quake-damaged historical temple Kasthamandap on May 14. Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Rabindra Adhikari laid the foundation stone to rebuild the temple located within Kathmandu Durbar Square in the center of capital city.The reconstruction is expected to complete within four years .

      China has declared the year 2018 as “Beautiful China-Year of Integrated Tourism”. The slogans are “New Era, New Tourism, New Achievements”; “Region-based Tourism, Brand New Pursuit” according to CNTA.
