Kathmandu: Himalaya Airlines, a Nepal-China joint venture, has expanded its commercial flights to Doha. The Airlines successfully launched its inaugural scheduled flight to Doha on May 31 2016, with 158 passengers on board.
The airlines will operate three-times-a-week schedule Airbus 320 flight for Kathmandu-Doha-Kathmandu till June 15 .
The airlines plans to operate daily flights to Doha effective from June 15, a press statement issued by the Himalaya Airlines stated.
Earlier, Nepal reestablished the direct air link with Sri Lanka after more than three decades, with the Himalaya Airlines making its maiden commercial flight to Colombo on April 13.
Himalaya Airlines, established in August 2014, plans to expand wings to more destinations including New Delhi followed by Lhasa, Chengdu and Beijing in China in near future.
Tibet Airlines holds 49 percent of equity capital of the company, whereas the Nepali investors – HIF Aviation Investment Company P Ltd and Yeti World Investment P Ltd – hold 51 percent in the airlines.
