Kathmandu: Deepak Raj Joshi has been appointed new Chief Executive Officer of Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) for the next four years.
The NTB Board appointed Joshi among the three contenders recommended by CEO selection sub-committee. The sub-committee had recommended D.R. Joshi, Gyaneshwor Mahato and Gyanendra Ratna Tuladhar to the NTB Board for the post .
The CEO selection sub-committee had interviewed nine candidates - Hari Sharma, Gyaneshwor Prasad Singh Mahato, Bishnu Bahadur GC, Raghu Bista, Gyanendra Ratna Tuladhar, Lok Bahadur Kshetri, Bhumi Lal Lama, Deepak Raj Joshi and Narayan Sundhar Pradhan - out of the 12 candidates who had been short-listed in 2011.
Three other shortlisted candidates -Subash Nirola, Hum Gurung and Shiva Saran Thapa – did not respond to NTB's invitation for interview.
D.R Joshi is the fourth CEO of Nepal Tourism Board after Pradeep Raj Pandey, Tek Bahadur Dangi and Prachanda Man Shrestha .The CEO post was vacant after the then CEO Shrestha’s tenure expired on October 31, 2011.
Newly appointed CEO Joshi is involved in NTB since the last 14 years.
Nepal Tourism Board was established in 1998 by an act of parliament in the form of partnership between Government of Nepal, and private sector tourism industries of Nepal to develop and market Nepal as an attractive tourist destination.
