Koreans favour Emirates Airlines for proven safety
Emirates Airlines, which launched daily non-stop service between Dubai and Incheon May 1, 2005, is rated by many here as the fastest growing airline from among foreign national flag carriers flying to and from Korea.
Popularity of Emirates gained further momentum when A380 twin deck plane was put into service on Incheon-Dubai route on Dec. 14, 2009 for the first time ever in East Asia zone.
Lee Sang-jin, who serves as its area manager in Seoul since its inception in 2005 proudly, told the WAM in a recent interview.
Emirates Group, parent of Emirates Airline, has recently announced in its annual report for 2010-11 that its net profits surged by 51.9 percent from $964 million in the previous year to $1.5 billion when the carrier worldwide transported 31,400,00 passengers, up 4 million from a year earlier.
“We are very proud of being staff of UAE national flag carrier which is also serving in the best interest of Incheon International Airport geared up for becoming an international hub in this part of the world,” Lee said.
In fact, the introduction of environment friendly A380 plane into Incehon-Dubai route in 2009 by Emirates Airlines played a crucial role in attracting more transit passengers from China, Japan and Southeast Asia not to mention from North America contributing immensely toward its efforts to becoming a regional hub airport, Lee further said.
Since A380 in service on Dubai-Incheon route, number of corporate clients has increased sharply in particular when the two-way commercial ties expanded in terms of quantity and quality.
Other factors behind ever growing popularity of Emirates Airlines among international travellers are proven safety standards and super cabin service of Emirates. That is why, occupancy rates of Emirates continues to average 80 percent or above annually, making it the top ten efficient air carriers worldwide, he explained.
“Emirates Airlines offers convenient connection flights at Dubai for flights to Europe and Africa, “he said.
Emirates Airlines Seoul office is aimed at securing a bigger slice of Korean outbound market pie scaled at 13 million annually while attracting more transit passengers from the United States, China, Japan and other Southeast Asian countries who want to continue their travel to Dubai and beyond, he said.
As of March 31, 2010. 50,000 plus workers from 156 countries are on the payroll of Emirates Airlines with a fleet of 161 of which Korean staff number 730.
At present, 28 local staff is working for Emirates Seoul office and a total of 730 Koreans are working as cabin crew for Emirates Airlines worldwide
