APEC leaders representing 21 member economies issue Da Nang Declaration

Da Nang, Viet Nam: The Leaders of the 21 APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) member economies issued the Da Nang Declaration following the 25th APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting here chaired by Viet Nam President Tran Dai Quang.
The “Da Nang Declaration: Creating New Dynamism, fostering a Shared Future “reaffirms leaders’ long-standing commitment to APEC’s mission of supporting sustainable economic growth and prosperity in the Asia-Pacific.
Recognizing the significant challenges, the region’s economies face, their leaders pledged to work together to promote Innovative growth, Inclusion and sustainable employment; create new drivers for regional economic integration; strengthen the capacity and innovation of micro, small and medium enterprises; enhance food security and sustainable agriculture in response to climate change and foster a shared future.
Earlier, Ministers from the 21 APEC member economies issued a joint statement following the APEC Ministerial Meeting in Da Nang co-chaired by Viet Nam Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh, and Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh.
The Joint Ministerial Statement describes collaborative actions to be implemented by APEC economies over the next year to sustain the momentum of regional cooperation and reinforce the profile of APEC as a driver of economic growth and integration in the Asia-Pacific.
The APEC members are – Australia, Brunei Darussalam , Canada, Chile , People’s Republic of China, Hong Kong, China, Indonesia, Japan, Republic of Korea, Malaysia , Mexico, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Peru, Philippines, Russia, Singapore, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, United States and Viet Nam.
Chinese President Xi Jinping, US President Donald Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin and other leaders stressed on cooperation between the APEC countries.
Leaders will meet in Papua New Guinea in 2018 during its APEC chairmanship according to APEC statement.
