    China to host first South Asia Expo in Kunming

    Kathmandu, April 15: China will host the first South Asia Expo in June this year to promote economic cooperation between China and the South Asian countries.

    The 21st China Kunming Import and Export Commodities Fair will be held simultaneously from June 6 – 10, 2013 in Kunming, Yunnan Province.

    A high level delegation from Nepal is expected to participate in the China South Asia Expo and China Import and Export Fair including more than 50 delegates from FNCCI.

    Ms. Li Jiang, Executive Vice Governor of Yunnan Province of People’s Republic of China , here today urged the government officials and business people to join hands to make China – South Asia Expo a showcase and platform for commodities deals, tourism promotion, service trade and investment partnership and a bridge for strengthening China- Nepal economic cooperation .

    ” The principle and theme of the 1st China-South Asia Exposition is promoting all-round China-South Asia cooperation and development , shared opening-up, pragmatic cooperation, mutual benefits and harmonious development”, Li Jiang said.

    Di Rong , Commercial Counsellor in the Chinese embassy in Nepal , said the Expo and Fair would open new vistas to promote economic cooperation between Nepal and China.

    At a Promotion Event of the 1st China-South Asia Exposition held in Kathmandu today, Secretary at the Ministry of Commerce Lal Mani Joshi, FNCCI President Suraj Vaidya and President of Nepal- China Executive Council Anoop Ranjan Bhattarai expressed commitment to make the Expo 2013 a grand success.

    The Promotion Event is sponsored by the Peoples’ Government of Yunnan Province and jointly organized with Nepal-China Executives Council.

    The 1st China-South Asia Exposition will be held from June 6 to 10, 2013 in Kunming for the purpose of promoting economic, trade, cultural and academic exchanges and cooperation of South Asian countries with China, especially Yunnan Province, and achieving win-win prosperity. 

    The Expo is upgraded to a national level from the South Asian Countries Trade Fair, which took place with great successes for five consecutive years. The expo will be co-hosted annually by the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China and the People’s Government of Yunnan Province.

    A high level delegation of the Yunnan province of People’s Republic of China is in a visit of South Asian countries to promote the event.
