    CITM , ITB : International travel fairs to be held in Kunming, Shanghai

    The 2022 China International Travel Mart (CITM) will be held from July 22 to 24 in Kunming, capital of southwest China’s Yunnan Province .

    Exhibitors from more than 70 countries and regions are expected to participate in the event either online or offline. More than 200 culture and tourism-related institutions and enterprises across China will take part, the organizers told a press conference held in Beijing, Xinhua News Agency reports.

    Housing some 2,500 booths in an exhibition area covering 70,000 square meters, the fair will feature different exhibition zones with themes including sports tourism, overseas tourism and smart tourism.

    For the first time, the fair will include a special zone for museums, such as the Palace Museum and the National Museum of China, to showcase traditional Chinese culture and the country’s efforts in the cultural heritage protection.

    Founded in 1998, the CITM has grown into one of the largest and most influential tourism fairs in the Asia-Pacific region, according to Xinhua.

    Similarly, ITB China will be held in September in Shanghai this year.  More than 20 destinations have already confirmed their attendance as sponsors at the combined in-person and virtual event.

    Global and Chinese industry experts will participate in various panels to discuss the resumption of international travel and early findings from the ITB China Travel Trends Survey.

    The organizers of ITB China announced plans to take the ITB China Industry MeetUp (IMU) to the next level, offering a combined offline and online event setting for members of the Chinese and China-based travel trade community to meet and exchange information and experiences. 

    The exclusive and compact event format features an in-person event held on 21 September 2022, in Shanghai, and a two-week virtual event period between 14 – 28 September, placing a heightened focus on face-to-face networking opportunities and brand visibility as well as global market updates from international experts both at the event in Shanghai and online, according to a release issued by ITB China.

    Many destinations have already confirmed their participation, including Austria, Catalonia, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Israel, Portugal, Spain, Tahiti and Switzerland.
