    After a three year pause, the CTW Chinese Tourist Welcome Award is presented to companies and destinations which reacted with new products and activities to the changed demand of the post-pandemic Chinese travellers.

    The award,organised by COTRI China Outbound Tourism Research Institute since 2004, presented 15 answers to the question of how to recover the Chinese market in the form of 15 CTW Chinese Tourist Welcome Awards.

    For this 17th edition, the CTW Award ceremony took place on 20 May during the International Tourism Conference of the GITF Guangzhou International Travel Fair in Guangzhou, the oldest tourism fair in China.

    Fair visitors and officials witnessed presentations by the CTW Gold Award winners, some of whom had travelled a long way to Guangzhou especially for the ceremony.

    The longest trip had the representative of a team of the Edith Corwin University in Perth/Australia, who are working on the inclusion of persons with mental health problems into the international tourism, to bring them joy and even helping to slow down diseases like Alzheimer.

    Three of the five CTW Gold Awards were bagged by National Tourism Organisations representing Sri Lanka, Peru and the Kingdom of Saudi-Arabia. The fifth Gold Award went to the organisation Spain is Excellence.

    CTW Awards were given in five categories: Product Innovation, Internet/Media, Service Quality, Marketing and Overall Performance.

    In 2023, the winners came from around the world, with the Gold winners located in Africa, Asia, Europe, the Middle East and Oceania. In total the 15 Award were given to four winners from Asia and Europe each, two each from Africa, the Americas and Oceania, and one from the Middle East.
