Dr. Mahathir and Yunnan Governor Li stress on tourism

Kathmandu : Former Prime Minister of Malaysia Dr Mahathir Mohamad stressed on political stability to achieve economic prosperity sharing his experiences on nation building with leaders of various political parties and people of socio-economic life during his four-day visit to Nepal (March 22 – 25 2014).
The former Malaysian Prime Minister attended the Business Conclave organized by the Government of Nepal and Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) as a keynote speaker.
Dr Mahathir Mohamad called on President Dr Ram Baran Yadav and Prime Minister Sushil Koirala separately during his visit.
Similarly, Governor of Yunnan Province of China Li Jiheng underlined the need to develop and strengthen tourism and economic cooperation between Nepal and China.
Li concluded his two-day formal visit to Nepal leading a seven-member delegation from China.He extended invitation to Nepal Prime Minister for the Second China-South Asia Exposition to be held in Kunming in June, 2014.
Governor of Yunnan Province of China, Li Jiheng commited to provide cooperation in Nepal’s tourism promotion while meeting with Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation Bhim Acharya.
Governor Li said there were tremendous potentials for cooperation in tourism development between Nepal and Yunnan adding he would provide support to increase the number of Chinese tourists in Nepal along with an increase in direct flights from Kathmandu to Kunming.
Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, Wu Chuntai and other members of the delegation were present in the meeting.
The Nepal Business Conclave 2014 ended with as many as six memorandums of understanding (MoUs) and letters of intent being signed to promote investment and tourism in Nepal with domestic and foreign investors agreeing on deals worth $164 million.
