Indonesia targets 8 m tourists next year

Jakarta: An Indonesian official said on that the government is targeting to receive 8 million foreign tourists visiting the country throughout next year.
“With that target, we expect to gain 8.98 billion U.S. dollars from their visits,” Market Development Director at Indonesia’s Tourism and Economy Creative ministry Sadar Pakarti Budi said.
He said that the target was higher than the one set for this year initially set at 7.7 million foreign tourists, bringing in 8. 47 billion U.S. dollars into the country.
He added that foreign tourists visit in Indonesia is expected to grow 7,35 percent next year, or higher than this year estimated at 6.42 percent.
Sadar said that the government was optimistic to accomplish the target next year as Indonesia offers competitive facilities for foreign tourists intending to visit various tourism places across the country.
“Entering Indonesia is very easy now as government has provided free visa facility in 12 countries and visa on arrival ( VOA) in 64 countries,” Sadar said.
In an attempt to achieve the target, the ministry will undertake orchestrated efforts that include spreading the country’ s tourism tag line that says”Wonderful Indonesia,”to market the tourism products in matched market, aiming particular segments and improve promotion activities overseas.
“It includes the establishment of Visit Indonesia Tourism Office (VITO) in several countries considered potential and in focused tourism markets,” Sadar said.
