Japan’s national day marked in Nepal,Emperor Akihito turns 79

Kathmandu: Japanese Ambassador to Nepal Kunio Takahashi said that Japan and Nepal are enjoying a friendly and cordial relationship and hoped Nepal will overcome difficulties and become a more peaceful and more prosperous country in the years to come.
The envoy expressed his confidence that Nepal will go ahead in promulgating new constitution for political stability and economic development of this country.
Japanese Ambassador Takahashi spoke about growing ties between the two countries since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1956.
The Embassy of Japan in Kathmandu and Japanese envoy Takahashi hosted a reception to celebrate 79th birthday of His Majesty Emperor Akihito at his official residence in Tahachal today ( December 23 , 2012 ).
Addressing the function, the ambassador also praised the contribution of renowned mountaineer Hirotaka Takeuchi, the first Japanese to climb all the peaks above 8000-meter. Takeuchi is the first Japanese climber to conquer all of the 14 highest mountain peaks above 8000 meter on the planet.
On the occasion, Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nepal Paramananda Jha highly evaluated the contribution of Japan for economic development of Nepal.
Politicians, high-profile government officials and personalities from different sectors of Nepali society attended the reception.
Japanese Emperor Akihito turned 79 years on Dec. 23 .The emperor is the symbol of the national unity and his birthday is observed as the National Day of Japan.
Meanwhile, the emperor in his birthday address at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo reassured thousands of well-wishers that he has regained health since his heart bypass surgery in February, agencies report.
The Emperor also said his thoughts were with those who have been unable to return to their homes since the devastating earthquake and tsunami that hit northern Japan in March 2011.
