    Kathmandu:  Kathmandu Metropolis and Nanjing Metropolis of China have formally become sister cities.

    Nanjing, situated in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River, is the capital of Jiangsu Province with the total area of 6,587 square kilometers, and 8.4 million population.

    Kathmandu Metropolis Deputy Mayor Hari Prabha Khadgi Shrestha and Chairman of the standing committee of Nanjing Municipal People’s Congress on Nanjing Culture and Tourism Long Xiang signed and exchanged a Memorandum of Understanding to establish sister city relations between Kathmandu and Nanjing here today.

    Addressing the ‘Promotional Event of Nanjing Culture and Tourism ‘ Chairman of the standing committee of Nanjing Municipal People’s Congress on Nanjing Culture and Tourism Long Xiang emphasized on developing relations and cooperation between the two capital cities.

    Deputy Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolis hoped that the establishment of sister city relations would promote people-to-people relations between the two cities.

    On the occasion, Director General of the Management Committee of Niushoushan Cultural Tourism Zone, Zhang Bin highlighted on incredible tourism products of Niushou cultural and tourism zone.

    Niushou Mountain, located in Jiangning District of Nanjing, is a popular tourist destination of China due to beautiful scenery and cultural monuments.

    Nanjing Niushou Mountain Cultural Tourism Zone is a recent major cultural project of Nanjing based on the philosophy of establishing new heritage of world Buddhism culture, and new sight of modern architecture art with the theme of long–time enshrining of Buddhist holy relic–Usnisa.

    Similarly, Chief of Cultural section of Chinese embassy in Nepal, Ci Dan Bai Mu and Aditya Baral of NTB hoped that the sister city relations between the two ancient capitals would contribute to strengthen cultural and tourism cooperation in the days ahead.

    The artists of Nanjing Little Red Flower Art Troupe performed cultural programs on the occasion. Nanjing Little Red Flower Art Troupe is recognized in China and across the world as one of the best children’s art troupe and talented little artists.

    The “Nanjing Culture and Tourism Promotion “program was hosted by China Cultural Center in Nepal in cooperation with Foreign Affairs office of Nanjing Municipal People’s Government and Administrative Committee of Nanjing Niushou Mountain Cultural Tourism Zone.

    Nanjing enjoys a civilization of over six thousand years and the city was founded 2500 years ago. Enclosed by mountains and rivers, and located in a strategic place, it boasts picturesque scenery that blends natural landscape with towering modern buildings, integrating traditional styles with modern civilization, according to organizers of the program.

    Dubbed as the capital of Ten Ancient Dynasties, Nanjing’s landmarks are the City Wall, the Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum, Dr. Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum, Presidential Palace and Confucius Temple among other cultural attractions.
