Seychelles:“Miss Seychelles… another world” 2012, Sherlyn Furneau, added her touch of beauty and amusement at the Heritage Open Day, which took place on September 8, 2012.

La Plaine St. Andre played host to the open day, which was organized by the Seychelles Heritage Foundation, the body responsible for cultural projects in Seychelles, and it is that very body that has helped protect La Plaine St. Andre as a heritage site.

Known for her love for children, the gorgeous “Miss Seychelles… another world” 2012 graced the event with her presence from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm and got involved in activities laid out for the children.

The activities for the gathered children, such as face painting and jewelry making, was set up on the lawn as kids were encourage to join in the fun and meet with Seychelles’ crowned beauty queen.

Ms. Furneau was looking forward to playing some traditional games with the children such as “sot lakord.” Alongside the traditional games, a traditional Creole meal was served during the lunch buffet and traditional music was provided by John Vital’s trio.

The Seychelles Tourism Board organized for the first time this year the beauty pageant as they felt that the islands’ population remains one of the island’s unique selling points. “Our country needs to showcase every single asset we have. Our population is, and will remain a key asset of us as a tourism destination. The diversity of our population is often referred to as the melting pot of cultures. If this is such an asset of our country, then we need to be proud of it and showcase the beauties we have coming out of this diversity of our people. This is an opportunity that open doors for our young ladies, but also it brings press coverage for our country and helps keep Seychelles visible in our different target markets,” Minister Alain St.Ange, the Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture said.MEDIA CONTACT: seychellesupdatednews@googlemail.com
