    More than 102 countries and regions participating in CITM

    Kunming: The 2013 China International Travel Mart (CITM) opened here today amidst a grand ceremony in Kunming International Convention and Exhibition Center.

    A large number of exhibitors representing government tourism agencies from different parts of the world, travel services, hotels, tourism and scenic spots, airlines, pleasure ships and travel professionals from more than 102 countries and regions are participating in the four day travel mart.Host province Yunnan is expected to be the most prominent seller at the event featuring a record of 617 booths.

    At the opening ceremony, the chairman of the China National Tourist Administration (CNTA) Shao Qiwei committed to strengthen inbound and outbound tourism of China in the years ahead. He wished best success of CITM 2013.

    Shao , highlighting tourism growth of China ,hoped that the exhibitors of different countries would contribute to promote tourism in China.” The CITM 2013 will provide a new platform for all participating countries and regions to showcase their tourism resources and products promoting deeper international exchanges and cooperation , ” he added.

    Different personalities including tourism minister of South Korea stressed on the need to accelerate cooperation between China and other countries of the world. 

    A business meeting was held here between the buyers and travel business people of different provinces of China.More than 1000 buyers from different countries of Asia, Europe and United States attended the meetings with Chinese travel professionals.

    Similarly,the Yunnan Government Tourism Committee organized a programme on ” Colorful Yunnan , Travelling Paradise “.

    On the occasion Director General of Yunnan Provincial Tourism Development Committee Duan Yueqing , highlighting tourism products and rich resources of Yunnan ,said that the province will be the top regional and international tourism destination within few years.

    He said that Yunnan welcomed 45,80000 international guests and 200 million domestic tourists earning 170 billion Yuan in 2012.

    Kunming, the capital city of Yunnan Province, is one of the major cities in Southwest China and the gateway of China to Southeast and South Asian countries.

    CITM 2013, jointly organized by China National Tourism Administration, Yunnan Provincial People’s Government and Civil Aviation Administration of China, will be held in Kunming International Convention & Exhibition Center from October 24 to October 27.

    China International Travel Mart (CITM) is the largest professional travel mart in Asia being held each year in Shanghai and Kunming alternatively. 

    The China International Travel Mart is regarded an important platform for domestic and foreign tourism professionals to conduct exchanges and cooperation to promote inbound and outbound tourism according to the organizers of CITM – 2013.
