    More than 106 countries participating at China International Travel Mart-2014

    Shanghai, China: A total of 2,427 exhibitors and 1, 200 buyers from 106 countries are participating at the Asia’s largest travel trade show this year. Asia’s largest professional travel mart – China International Travel Mart (CITM) 2014 kicked off at New International Expo Center here today. 

    Vice Mayor of Shanghai Municipal People’s Government Zhao Wen,opening the CITM -2014, said that inbound , outbound and domestic tourism has been flourishing in China in recent years.

    More than 106 countries and regions are participating in the CITM 2014.The total number of buyers at the travel mart is more than 1200, including 950 international buyers and 250 buyers from Hong Kong and Taiwan.

    According to the organizers, a total of 2,427 exhibitors are participating at the travel mart including 1,491 domestic exhibitors.

    This year’s CITM is themed “Beautiful China – Journey along the Silk Road “. Two highlights on ‘ Silk Road : A journey to modern vitality ‘ and ‘ Silk Road : Journey of potential development’ were presented at the opening ceremony of the travel mart.

    The CITM held once a year has become the largest and most influential travel marts in Asia, serving as a crucial platform to showcase tourism resources and products, promote international exchanges and cooperation in tourism and facilitate the overall development of tourism.

    CITM-2014 is jointly sponsored by China National Tourism administration (CNTA) and Shanghai Municipal People’s Government.

    Exhibitors and buyers from the travel industry are participating in trade negotiations and professional forums during the four day travel mart in Shanghai.

    Participants in China International Travel Mart (CITM) represent all sectors of the travel industry including international and domestic tourist organizations, travel agencies, tour operators, hotels, airlines and travel companies.

    CITM is an annual event that is held in Shanghai and Kunming alternately. As the largest professional travel show in Asia, CITM has drawn the attention of people in the tourism industry worldwide.

    New chairman of China National Tourism Administration Li Jinzao ,UNWTO Secretary General Taleb Rifai and Tourism Ministers of different countries attended the opening ceremony of the CITM – 2014.
