NATO urges the government to ensure safety of tourists visiting Nepal

Kathmandu,January 24 : Nepal Association of Tour Operators (NATO)has urged the government and the political parties to ensure security of the tourists visiting to different destinations of the country.
“The growing mistrust among the ruling and the opposition political parties and the reemergence of the demonstrations and strike culture in Nepal and the protracted political transition has generated ample negative media attention on Nepal. The Nepal Association of Tour Operators (NATO) and all of Nepal’s friends in tourist generating markets have taken serious note of this situation,” NATO states in a press release.
NATO is worried that the possible political clashes in the country may cause a severe damage to the already shaky national economy, especially the sensitive tourism industry in the upcoming spring tourist season leading to cancellations and deferment of trips to Nepal by potential high yield travelers. Such travelers are already concerned about security situation in our country following the dissolution of the Constituent Assembly (CA) in May last year.
The umbrella association of the country’s tour operators urges the government to ensure that visiting tourists can travel to different tourist destinations without any difficulty.
The association also requests the ruling as well as the opposition political parties to put the economic agendas at the centre and do not carry out any activity hindering the economic sector.
Similarly, NATO also is concerned about the ongoing extortion drive launched by some responsible political parties and urges them to stop such acts immediately in order to take both domestic and foreign investors into confidence.
