    NATTA elects new executive committee , different personalities honoured

    Kathmandu : Nepal Association of Tour & Travel Agents (NATTA) elected the new executive committee under the leadership of Dal Bahadur Limbu for the next two years.

    According to NATTA, the newly elected executive committee is as follows:

    President –                        Dal Bahadur Limbu
    First Vice President –         Shambhu Raj Pathak
    Second Vice President –    C.N. Pandey
    Secretary General –           Ms. Mihika Dhakhwa
    Treasurer –                        Narayan Prasad Gurung
    Secretary –                       Ramesh Thapa
    Joint Treasurern-                Ms. Jiswan Tuladhar Shrestha

    Similarly, the 7 elected executive members are – Chitra Bahadur Gurung , Yubaraj Subedi , Sudhir Kumar Upadhyaya ,Ms. Sabita Bhattarai KC , Binoy Basnet , Ms. Kamala Gurung and Ms. Fu Doma Sherpa .

    The 50th Annual General Meeting of Nepal Association of Tour & Travel Agents (NATTA) and the election of the new executive committee of NATTA were held on 9 January, 2014 in Kathmandu.Out of 421 valid member agencies, 396 members cast their votes in the election.

    The other panel in the election was led by travel entrepreneur Madhusudan Acharya.

    The new President of Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA) Limbu is Managing Director of Fast International Travels.

    Earlier, the government officials and personalities of socio- economic sectors emphasized to develop tourism industry for economic prosperity of the country.

    Addressing the 50th Annual General Meeting of the Nepal Association of Travel and Tour Agents (NATTA), Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Ram Kumar Shrestha underlined the need to promote Nepal in the world tourism market.

    Similarly, Chief Secretary Lilamani Poudyal , President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) Suraj Vaidya, Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Sushil Ghimire , Acting CEO of the Nepal Tourism Board Subash Niraula ,outgoing NATTA President Pavitra Kumar Karki , Ist Vice President Madhusudan Acharya and CEO of NATTA Dr.Hari Sarmah stressed on consolidation of national flag carrier, infrastructure development in tourism sector, increase the access of air services , international promotion of Nepal and planned development of tourism as an industry.

    On the occasion, Minister Shrestha honoured different people with the NATTA Excellence Award, the NATTA Tourism Media Award, the Sagarmatha Award and the NATTA Bhasker Award.

    The honoured personalities are Hon. Public Relations Representative of NTB in Thailand and veteran travel entrepreneur Ms. Somsong Sachaphimukh , travel entrepreneur Bikram Pandey and journalists Ramesh Tiwari of Travelbiznews.com , Sangam Prasain of Kathmandu Post and Kedar Koirala of Mountain TV.

    NATTA, established in 1965 A.D. to work together to formulate sound business principal and regulate the travel industry in Nepal , is an umbrella organisation of travel and tour entrepreneurs and more than 421 travel agencies are associated with NATTA at present .

    Tiwari of Travelbiznews.com awarded

    Kathmandu : Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA) has felicitated Ramesh Tiwari , editor of online news portal on travel and tourism – Travelbiznews.com with the NATTA Media Award 2013 for his significant contribution to the development of Nepal’s tourism through journalism.

    Tiwari was conferred a plaque and cash award by Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Ram Kumar Shrestha amid NATTA’s 50th Annual General Meeting. Tiwari is former editor-in-chief of Gorkhapatra national daily.

      holiday destination for 2025

      Bangkok has been ranked as the best city to visit in Asia for 2025 by Smart Travel Asia, a leading digital travel magazine, based on the opinions of hundreds of thousands of travellers and readers worldwide.

      The city received the highest votes in the “Best Holiday Destination in Asia” category, retaining its top position for the second consecutive year.

      Smart Travel Asia highlighted Bangkok’s strengths as its 24-hour vibrancy and diverse experiences, including food, culture, shopping, and the friendliness of its people, describing it as a “city full of energy and colour, day and night.”

      The city’s dominance stems from several compelling factors. Bangkok has emerged as a paradise for food enthusiasts, offering everything from legendary street food stalls to Michelin-starred restaurants and panoramic 360-degree rooftop bars. Its cultural and heritage sites, including the iconic Wat Phra Kaew, Wat Arun, and Wat Pho temples, remain major attractions to international tourists.

      Additionally, from luxury malls in the city centre to the Chatuchak weekend market, Bangkok caters to every type of shopper. Affordability and friendliness also play a key role, as Bangkok remains an accessible living cost destination where welcoming smiles continue to charm travellers.

      In the Smart Travel Asia 2025 rankings, Bali (Indonesia) and Tokyo (Japan) shared second place behind Bangkok, while Seoul (the Republic of Korea) and Luang Prabang (Laos) tied for fourth. Thailand further strengthened its tourism appeal with Chiang Mai placing third and Phuket sharing fifth place with Hong Kong (China).

      India resumes tourist visa for

      Chinese citizens after 5 years

      India announced  that it will open tourist visa applications to Chinese citizens from July 24, 2025. It was the first time in five years since the South Asian country suspended Chinese citizens’ tourist visa applications in February 2020.

      The Embassy of India in China announced via its Sina Weibo account  that, starting from July 24, 2025, Chinese citizens can apply for a tourist visa to visit India after completing an online application, scheduling an appointment, and personally submitting their passport and other required documents to three Indian visa application centers in Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou in South China’s Guangdong Province.

      Responding to the related inquiry, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said  that “we take note of this positive move. Easing cross-border travel is widely beneficial. China will maintain communication and consultation with India to further facilitate travel between the two countries.”

      Chinese experts said the latest move taken by the India marks a phased milestone in the easing of relations between the two countries, and creates favorable conditions for further strengthening bilateral people-to-people exchanges.
