    Kathmandu: Political and travel trade personalities have stressed on planned international promotion to revive post – disaster tourism industry of Nepal.

    Speaking at the 20th Convention of Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA), Speaker of the Nepal Parliament Subhas Chandra Nembang urged all the travel trade professionals to join hands for economic prosperity of the country.

    “The promulgation of new constitution in Nepal has institutionalized the republic, federalism, secularism, inclusive democracy and is unparalleled in the history of the world,” he added.

    On the occasion, NATTA honored various personalities, journalists, past-presidents and advisors of NATTA for their contribution in promotion of tourism.

    Eric Valli, renowned French photographer and director of movie ‘Caravan’ and Honey Hunters of Nepal, was awarded with NATTA Sagarmatha Award for his contribution in promoting Nepal.

    Chinese celebrity Ming-Yang Jiang was facilitated and honored as goodwill ambassador of NATTA.

    Similarly, NATTA Bhaskar Award was presented to former Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank Deependra Bahadur Kshetri and NATTA Excellence Awards to Fewa Tours Travels and Gandaki Tours and Travels.

    NATTA Past – Presidents P.R. Joshi,Y.P. Khanal, RM Singh, Tek Chandra Pokharel,NMS Pradhan, R.R. Pandey,Ms. Ambica Shrestha,Bhola Bikram Thapa,Joy Dewan,Rabi Nath Poudel, Dhruba Narayan Shrestha,Ram Kaji Koney, Arjun Prasad Sharma and NATTA Advisors- Deependra Purush Dhakal, Prachanda Man Shrestha,Mahesh P. Rai,Shyam Raj Thapaliya,Ms. Gayatri Kansakar, B.K.Shrestha and Dr. Ramesh Raj Kunwar were honoured with ‘Token of Appreciation’for their active contribution in tourism development of the country.

    On the occasion, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Kripasur Sherpa, NATTA President D.B.Limbu, President of UFTAA Udaya Nanyakkara and convention coordinator Shambhu Raj Pathak highlighted on problems and prospects of Nepal’s tourism sector after the devastating earthquake of April 25, 2015.

    NATTA has organized a week long Familiarization (FAM) trip for tour operators and representatives of international media to convey the message that “Nepal is safe and beautiful to visit even after the earthquake.”

    More than 20 representatives from international media, tour operators and travel trade personalities from India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Sri Lanka, Italy, France and Turkey are participating in the FAM trip to Kathmandu, Chitawan and Pokhara.
