NATTA submits memorandum to Nepal government

Kathmandu: Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA) has urged the Nepal government to recognize tourism as national industry and focus on planned development of tourism in the country.
NATTA President D.B. Limbu requested the government to construct tourist bus terminal keeping in view the problems faced by tourist buses plying on the long route from Kathmandu.
President Limbu , addressing ‘meet the press ‘ program here, underlined the need to allocate some percentage of NQ tax collected from the tourists visiting Nepal to the umbrella organization of travel agencies .
‘The Joint Coordination Committee ‘ formed recently by eight national organizations – NATTA , TAAN, NARA , HAN, NMA, PATA Nepal , NATO and SOTTO – will collectively join hands to solve the problems faced by tourism sector , he said.
President Limbu stressed on restructuring Nepal Tourism Board, good management of Tribhuwan International Airport, construction of another international and regional airport for overall development of tourism in Nepal.
Former secretary at Ministry for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation and advisor of NATTA Dipendra Purush Dhakal , Secretary and media coordinator of NATTA Ramesh Thapa and CEO Dr. Hari Sharmah highlighted on state of tourism in the country.
Meanwhile, a delegation of the NATTA led by President DB Limbu recently submitted a 32- point memorandum to the newly appointed Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Bhim Prasad Acharya recently.
The memorandum includes construction of a terminal for tourist buses, expediting the development of a second international airport, allocating a separate budget for tourism promotion from the tourism service fee among others.
