Delegates from Nepal and Bangladesh signed four bilateral instruments namely Memorandum of Understanding on Tourism cooperation, Memorandum of Understanding on sanitary and phyto sanitary co-operation, cultural exchange program, and Letter of Exchange to designate Rohanpur-Singabad railway route as an additional transit route in the presence of Presidents of Nepal and Bangladesh at Bangabhaban  .

The deals were signed after a meeting between President Abdul Hamid and his Nepalese counterpart Bidya Devi Bhandari at Bangabhaban on March 22 in Dhaka.

One of the four MoUs covers setting up of a rail link through the Rohanpur-Singhabad route for the transfer of goods between Bangladesh and Nepal through the Indian territory. She also emphasised the need to strengthen trilateral cooperation, among Nepal, Bangladesh and India, in the energy sector.

Hasina emphasised signing of a preferential trade agreement for mutual cooperation in the fields of trade and commerce.

Prime minister Sheikh Hasina also advocated strengthening connectivity among the BBIN -Bangladesh, Bhutan, India and Nepal – member states as it will boost trade and commerce in the region, according to local newspapers.
