Nepal Govt. to purchase aircrafts
Kathmandu: Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation Lokendra Bista Magar has said the government would bring four more aircrafts for the Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) at any cost.
At an interaction here , Minister Bista opined that new aircrafts were essential in order for the national flag-carrier to improve its dwindling status.
He informed that the government had initiated necessary action to procure at least a wide body, two narrow body, 2-3 aircraft for trunk routes and 5-6 twin otter aircraft for rural areas.
He said that the Ministry plans to complete the Second International Airport and construct a domestic airport in Kathmandu within the next five years.
He informed that a sub-committee has been formed to construct the domestic airport and the officials have inspected two sites Panchkhal and Nagidanda of Kavre district.
Speaking at a press meet , Minister Bista informed that the number of tourists visiting Nepal during the Nepal Tourism Year (NTY) 2011 would limit to 800,000.Besides, the government has also unveiled it work plan to develop tourism infrastructures in 17 different destinations.
Similarly, the government has discussed with the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the Legislature-Parliament on purchasing new aircrafts for the Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC).
During the discussion held at the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation, the members emphasized to purchase new aircrafts for the national flag-carrier through the due process.
