    Kathmandu: Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai said that the government was committed for speedy development of Lumbini, the birth place of Buddha.
    Addressing the closing ceremony of the Visit Lumbini Year 2012 in Lumbini on January 15, he said that the Lumbini got new identity internationally due to promotional campaigns of Visit Lumbini Year-2012.

    Meanwhile,the first-ever Nepal-India Tourism Mart 2013 concluded in Lumbini, the birth place of Lord Buddha, in western Nepal with commitment to develop Lumbini as a pilgrimage center.

    Nepalese Tourism Minister Posta Bahadur Bogati and Indian Ambassador to Nepal Jayanta Prasad jointly inaugurated the tourism mart amidst a special function in Lumbini on Jan.15.

    The Mart organized jointly by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Nepal Tourism Board and the Indian Embassy, Kathmandu was participated by government officials and travel trade of the two countries.

    The main objective of the mart is to promote the Buddhist sites of both the two countries, interactions between the tourism entrepreneurs of both countries and to expand business network.

    Similarly, Buddhistcircuit.com organized Lumbini Peace Marathon to promote Lumbini . Nepal Army´s Letter Singh Khatri won the marathon organized by buddhacircuit.com at the birthplace of Gautam Buddha to mark the conclusion of Visit Lumbini Year 2012. Another army man Krishna Basnet and Kalyan Baniya were declared second and third winners.

    Tourism entrepreneur Bikram Pandey organizes the Tenzing Hillary Everest Marathon and Annapurna Marathon under the banner of Himalayan Expeditions besides Lumbini Peace Marathon each year.
