    Nepal opens fourth diplomatic mission in China

    Guangzhou, China : Nepal has officially established Consulate General office in Guangzhou amid a special ceremony on Sunday.

    Inaugurating the Consulate office ,  Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs  Krishna Bahadur Mahara believed that the Consulate would be instrumental for enhancing economic and commercial activities as well as people-to-people contacts between Nepal and the People’s Republic of China.

    Similarly he held a meeting with the Governor of Guangdong Province Ma Xingrui and discussed the matters related to further promoting relations between Nepal and China in general and with Guangdong Province in particular.

    Governor Ma Xingrui assured of providing necessary cooperation to promote investment and tourism from Guangdong to Nepal.

    Earlier, various speakers stressed on strengthening economic cooperation between the two countries in an interaction program on the Investment Opportunities in Nepal.

    On the occasion,  Mahara urged business community to seize the opportunities available in various sectors such as hydropower, tourism, construction, agriculture, industrial manufacturing, telecommunication, IT, minerals and service sectors, among others.

    He shed light on the excellent state of bilateral relations between Nepal and China and expressed happiness over the expansion of Nepal’s diplomatic representation in China by opening the Consulate in Guangzhou.

    Ambassador Leela Mani Paudyal and Consul General of Nepal to Guangzhou Ravi Bhattarai focused  on the investment opportunities in Nepal.

    The Vice Governor of the Guangdong Province of China  and Deputy Director General of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China emphasized on consolidating bilateral relations between the two countries  in a program held in Guangzhou ,according to a statement issued by Ministry of Foreign Affairs Nepal.

    More than 200 Nepali businessmen are engaged in various businesses in Guangzhou. Over 60 percent of Nepal’s trade with China originates in Guangdong province.

    Nepal ‘s Consulate General Office in Guangzhou is  fourth diplomatic mission in China .Nepal has its embassy in Beijing, while two other consulate general offices are in Lhasa and Hong Kong .

    China Southern operates direct flights on Guangzhou-Kathmandu route.

    Guangzhou (Canton), a prosperous metropolis, is the capital city of Guangdong Province located along the south coastline of China.

    Being an excellent port on the Pearl River navigable to the South China Sea, and with fast accessibility to Hong Kong and Macau, the city serves as the political, economic, scientific, educational and cultural center in Guangdong province of China.

    Guangzhou  , with population of more than 13 million , is the third largest city in China and the largest in the southern part of the country.
