    Kathmandu: The International Tourism Trade Fair – FITUR 2014 concluded in Madrid with commitment of strengthening mutual cooperation to promote international tourism in the days ahead.

    The International Tourism Trade Fair, held on 22-26 January 2014 in Madrid, featured the participation of 9000 companies from 165 countries attracting more than 200,000 visitors at the fair. FITUR – 2014 will have an economic impact on the City of Madrid estimated at some 180 million Euros according to the organizers.

    With a budget of 10 million Euros, the trade fair developed a number of different forums in collaboration with the main players within the field of tourism to boost the industry’s strategies and promote its development.

    According to Hari Raj Joshi, editor and publisher of Image Nepal Travel Magazine and Tourism News Digest , most of the visitors at the fair were interested to know about the new destinations including Nepal.

    The participants from Nepal at FITUR – 2014 were representatives from Hotel Annapurna, Roshi Travel, Snowy Horizon Treks and Expedition, Trail Blazer Trekking, Nepal Social Treks, Makalu Adventure, Outdoor Expedition, Royal Mountain Travel, Highlander Trekking, Sampurna Adventure, Vista Travel, Scenic Adventure Travel & Tours, I-Tour International, Yeti Travel, Asian Adventure Treks, Outshine Adventure and Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA).

    Image Nepal, bimonthly travel magazine published since the last 25 years, also participated in FITUR – 2014.

    Meanwhile, Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy announced that a total of 60.6 million international tourists visited Spain in 2013.Spain now stood behind only France with 83 million international tourist arrivals and the United States with 67 million, Rajoy said.

      Arabian Travel Market 2025, held under the theme “Global Travel: Developing Tomorrow’s Tourism Through Enhanced Connectivity”,  featured more than 200 speakers across three content stages and welcomes over 55,000 travel professionals from 166 countries.
