Nepal reopened for tourists, resumes on-arrival visas

Ramesh Tiwari –
Kathmandu: Nepal is once again reopened for foreign visitors. Nepal has resumed issuing on-arrival visa to fully vaccinated foreign tourists keeping in view the adverse effects on tourism industry.
Nepal government had suspended on-arrival visas in March 2020 due to coronavirus outbreak around the world.
All foreigners arriving Nepal via airport or land border should submit evidence of full vaccination and COVID-19 negative report obtained within 72 hours of the departure from first port of embarkation.
The visitor should also submit print copy of International Traveler Online Arrival Form obtained after online registration in www.ccmcgov.np
According to the travel advisory issued by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, the tourists need to have been vaccinated at least 14 days prior to their arrival in Nepal to obtain on-arrival visa.
Tourists, who are unvaccinated or who test positive for the coronavirus during the mandatory antigen test conducted either at the TIA or their hotels, have to stay quarantined according the travel advisory issued on Thursday (Sept. 23).
Foreigners without complete vaccination against COVID-19, must obtain visa from the Nepali diplomatic missions abroad and are allowed to enter Nepal only through agencies. Such foreigners should submit the necessary documents and are subject to 10 days hotel quarantine at their own cost, according to a statement issued by Immigration Department.
Indian citizens arriving Nepal through air and land routes should submit PCR negative report at the entry point.
Likewise, nationals from Nigeria, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Swaziland, Cameron, Somalia, Liberia, Ethiopia, Iraq, Palestine, Afghanistan, Syria and foreigners holding temporary travel document need to take visa from the Nepali diplomatic missions abroad.
Travel trade organizations have welcomed the government decision.
