Nepal – Russia stress on strengthening tourism cooperation

Kathmandu – Nepal and Russia have stressed on strengthening cooperation on tourism sector.
The first Secretary Ms. Iuliia Androsova, Embassy of The Russian Federation as well as Director-Russian Centre of Science and Culture , and CEO of Nepal Tourism Board Dr. Dhananjay Regmi discussed on the prospects of promotional collaboration between Russia and Nepal here today.
‘ As Nepal is the most desired adventurous destination for the Russian tourists , the role of diplomatic mission of the Russian Federation is pivotal in increasing the number of Russian tourists in Nepal, ‘ Dr. Regmi said.
On the occasion , Ms. Androsova said that Nepal is represented as a mysterious country in Russia and they aspire to visit a multilingual, multicultural and multiethnic country Nepal.
She assured NTB to connect with Federal Agency for Tourism in Russia to discuss on possible cooperation on promotional campaigns.
Ms. Androsova suggested NTB to strongly brand image of ‘ Yeti’ as Nepal’s attraction.
Similarly, Dr. Regmi agreed on the facilitation for the ‘Sister City Agreement’ between Bhaktapur and Derbent . He suggested to strengthen mutual cooperation on organizing Russian language training and other activities concerning travel and tourism.
A total of 10, 372 tourists from Russian Federation had visited Nepal in 2019.
Nepal and the then Soviet Union established diplomatic relations on 20 July 1956. Soon after the collapse of the former Soviet Union, Nepal extended formal diplomatic recognition to the Russian Federation as a sovereign and independent state on 28 December 1991.
