    TAAN’s new leadership to implement long-term programs

    Kathmandu : The newly elected executive committee of Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN) assumed office amid a function held at TAAN Secretariat on September 25.

    Chief Election Officer Tulsi Bhatta administered the oath of office and secrecy to the newly elected President Ramesh Prasad Dhamala. Dhamala later administered the oath of office and secrecy to the newly elected office-bearers and executive members of TAAN.

    Acting CEO Of Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) Subash Nirola handed over ‘elected’ certificates to President Dhamala, Senior Vice-President Keshav Pandey, 1st Vice-President, Kami Rinji Sherpa, 2nd Vice-President Kul Bahadur Gurung, General Secretary Sagar Pandey, Secretary Pasang Sherpa, Treasurer Gopal Babu Shrestha, Joint Treasurer Tilak Bahadur Thapa Magar and Executive Members Dhan Prasad Gurung, Ang Pemba Sherpa, Pasang Tendi Sherpa, Palsang Tamang, Rajendra Sapkota, Nilhari Bastola, Namaraj Gauli, Meghnad Timalsina and Gokul Sapkota.

    On the occasion, outgoing President Mahendra Singh Thapa handed over the keys of TAAN Secretariat to new President Ramesh Prasad Dhamala. Similarly, outgoing General Secretary Mohan Lamsal handed over minute-book of TAAN to new General Secretary Sagar Pandey, while outgoing Treasurer Anjan Thapa handed over the association’s checkbooks to new Treasurer Gopal Babu Shrestha.

    Speaking on the occasion, outgoing President Thapa thanked members of his executive committee and stakeholders of Nepali tourism industry for their support to the association during his tenure.

    Former Presidents Suman Pandey and Deepak Mahat congratulated office-bearers and members of the new executive committee and asked them to work in the interest of trekking entrepreneurs. 

    Speaking on the occasion, newly elected TAAN President Ramesh Dhamala said the new executive committee would work as per the interest of trekking entrepreneurs. “We have short-term, mid-term and long-term programs. We will implement them gradually,” he said, adding that the new executive committee will give continuity to programs initiated by the outgoing executive committee. He also expressed commitment to implement the programs that his panel had unveiled before the election. “We will discourage all attempts to politicize TAAN,” he said .- TAAN
