New leadership of Nepal Mountaineering assumes office

Kathmandu: The newly elected executive committee of Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) assumed office amid a function held here on February 28, 2014.
Chief Election Officer Basant Bahadur Basnet administered the oath of office and secrecy to the newly elected President Ang Tshering Sherpa and executive members of NMA.
On the occasion, elected’ certificates were presented to newly elected President Ang Tshering Sherpa ,1st Vice President Santa Bir Lama , 2nd Vice President Deebas Bikram Shah ,General Secretary Thakur Raj Pandey ,Secretary Rajendra Man Shrestha, Treasurer Tika Ram Gurung , Executive Committee members Dr. Hari Prasad Shrestha, Dr. Nima Namgyal Sherpa, Dhan Bahadur Gurung, Ms. Chhurim Sherpa, Pasang Sherpa, Lakpa Sherpa, Da Gelje Sherpa, Pemba Dorji Sherpa, Ms. Kamini Lambi Lama (Sherpa) , Dorjee Khatri, Padam Ghale , Pasang Bhote , Mingma Sherpa and Pasang Tenzi Sherpa .
Addressing the oath taking and installation ceremony, newly appointed Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Bhim Prasad Acharya assured Nepal government’s full support and cooperation to develop mountain tourism in the country.
Former Minister of Tourism Ms. Yankila Sherpa and President of Trekking Agents Association of Nepal ( TAAN) wished the new executive committee for a successful tenure.
Outgoing President Zimba Zangbu Sherpa highlighted on major achievements of his leadership and thanked office – bearers and members of the executive committee for their support during his tenure.
Similarly, newly elected President Ang Tshering Sherpa urged the government to open more peaks for climbing and give priority for the development of mountain tourism in the country.
Nepal Mountaineering Association, established on 1 November 1973, is an alpine association of Nepal committed to promote mountain tourism, climbing sports, protect mountain environment and preserve cultural heritage of mountain people. NMA is one of the active member of UIAA and UAAA.
