PATA Nepal Chapter urges to strengthen NAC

Kathmandu, Dec. 15: Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Nepal Chapter urged the Nepal Government to strengthen national flag-carrier and purchase new aircrafts as soon as possible.
Speaking during the annual general meeting of the association, President of the PATA Nepal Chapter Pawan Tuladhar urged the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation to expedite purchasing process of new aircrafts and build second international airport for overall development of tourism industry in Nepal.
Secretary at the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation Dr.Ganesh Raj Joshi highlighted on the success stories of the Nepal Tourism Year-2011.” Our target is to attract one million tourists this year, but we are heading towards getting distinction marks. The number of tourists from two great neighboring countries India and China has significantly increased this year ” , he said, adding that the promotional campaigns this year will have a long-term result in the years to come.
Ms. Patricia Mahoney, Deputy Chief of Mission at US Embassy in Nepal, giving key note address on ‘ Air Safety and its Impact on Tourism ‘, hoped that the Nepal government will focus on solving the problems faced by the tourists including the concern of air safety.
Hon. Secretary of PATA Nepal Chapter Sunil Shakya threw light on major problems of tourism industry in Nepal and recommended several measures for development of tourism industry including extension of tourism infrastructures, improvement of TIA and construction of new international airport.
During the 36th Annual General Meeting of the association, PATA Nepal Chapter awarded letter of appreciation to different travel agencies, hotels and organizations for their contribution in promoting travel business in Nepal.
