• Seven Summits Women Team on Mt Aconcagua

    Kathmandu : The Nepal Tourism Board organized its first ever tourism promotion program in the South American continent in March 2014 in celebration of the incredible journey of the Seven Summits Women Team from the summit of Mt Everest to Mt Aconcagua.

    Members of the Seven Summits Women Team scaled the summit of Mt Aconcagua on 23 Feb 2014 marking International Women’s Day. The climb was supported by the Government of Nepal, Nepal Tourism Board as well as Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN), The North Face, Panchakanya Group, Golchha Organization, President Travel, Association of Chartered Accountants Nepal, NEBICO, Mountain Delight Treks and Smart Paani.

    The events formally introduced Nepal and various tourism potential of the country to the South American tour operators. Tour operators in both the countries are enthusiastic to take next step in promoting Nepal in their market , NTB reports.

    Aconcagua marked fifth peak in the team’s 7 Summits quest following climbs of Mt Everest, Kosciuszko (Australia), Elbrus (Europe) and Mt Kilimanjaro (Africa). The team is now gearing up to climb Mt Denali/McKinley, the highest peak of North America situated in United States of America in June 2014.

    The final climb will be Mt Vinson Massif in Antarctica scheduled for later this year. The team has entered in partnership with Colorado-based organization Rocky Mountain Friends of Nepal to help the team raise funds and take educational, empowerment and environmental initiatives forward in Nepal.

    The team comprises of Shailee Basnet, Asha Kumari Singh, Chunu Shrestha, Pujan Acharya, Nimdoma Sherpa, Maya Gurung and Pema Diki Sherpa.

      Arabian Travel Market 2025, held under the theme “Global Travel: Developing Tomorrow’s Tourism Through Enhanced Connectivity”,  featured more than 200 speakers across three content stages and welcomes over 55,000 travel professionals from 166 countries.
