Snow and mountain tourism world congress to focus on tourism, innovation and sustainability

The 11th edition of the World Congress on Snow and Mountain Tourism will focus on “Tourism, Innovation and Sustainability”.
The Congress , organized by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), the Government of Andorra and the Parish of Canillo , will be held on 11-13 March in Andorra.
Within the framework of the Year of Tourism and Rural Development that the UNWTO is celebrating in 2020, the Congress will focus on the role of mountain tourism in rural development, mainly addressing the issues of innovation, sustainability and digital transformation.
The Congress will explore innovative solutions for sustainable tourism, sustainable consumption, local resources and products, inclusive tourism, and the development of responsible destinations, according to a statement issued by UNWTO.
The event will bring together a wide range of tourism professionals and experts from more than 10 countries namely Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Chile, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, United Kingdom and United States.
Presiding over the inauguration of the 11th World Congress on Snow and Mountain Tourism will be Xavier Espot Zamora, Head of Government of Andorra, Zurab Pololikashvili, Secretary-General of the UNWTO, and Francesc Camp Torres, Mayor of Canillo.
The Congress has established itself as an enduring forum for discussion of the development and sustainability of tourism in mountain areas.
Ice and snow tourism seminar Heilongjiang Province, China
Similarly , more than 120 participants from different prefectures of Heilongjiang Province, China, took part in a special UNWTO training seminar on winter tourism recently .
Experts from UNWTO are currently working alongside the Heilongjiang Provincial Culture and Tourism Department to finalize two different plans for the regional tourism sector.
The Heilongjiang Provincial Inclusive Tourism Development Plan aims to grow the regional tourism sector in an inclusive manner between 2020 and 2030.
The Ice and Snow Tourism Development Plan is aimed at consolidating the province’s status as a leading seasonal tourism destination and will also run between now and 2030.
