TAAN elects new leadership , Dahal commits to heighten adventure tourism

Kathmandu: Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN) has elected a new executive committee under the leadership of Nava Raj Dahal.
The panel led by Dahal got victory in most of the posts in the election of 17-member new executive committee for 2017-19.
Dahal received 331 votes while his contender Mohan Lamsal received 313 votes in the election held yesterday during 39th Annual General Meeting of TAAN. The third contestant for President Nuru Jambu Sherpa received 50 votes in the election.
Similarly, TAAN Annual General Meeting elected Khum Bahadur Subedi as Senior Vice President,Jeevan Thapa Magar as First Vice President, Neel Hari Bastola as Second Vice President, Aang Pemba Sherpa as General Secretary , Sujan Lamicchane as Secretary, Ram Krishan Timilsina as Treasurer and Tara Rana as Joint Treasurer .
Similarly, Rajan Prasad Kapri, Ritu Gyamden, Rabindra Adhikari, Jeevan Lama, Baburam Gurung, Gopal Shrestha, Suk Bahadur Lama, Sher Bahadur Pariyar and Janga Bahadur Lama were elected members of the new executive committee.
Newly elected President of TAAN Nava Raj Dahal has reiterated to work for the betterment of tourism industry in the country.
“Our team will make every effort and leave no stone unturned in the development and promotion of trekking and adventure tourism in Nepal, working for the welfare of trekking guides and porters and addressing the issues of trekking entrepreneurs,” he said.
“The new team will be working in close coordination and cooperation of Nepal government, Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Civil Aviation (MoCTCA), Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) and other tourism associations for the overall development and promotion of Nepalese tourism industry,” he added.
Newly elected President Dahal is Managing Director of Nepal Environmental Treks and Expedition. He is Honorary Consul of the Republic of Estonia to Nepal since the last three years.
