    PATA Nepal launches campaign of “Vision 5 Million”, new leadership elected

    Kathmandu: PATA Nepal Chapter has adopted the campaign of “Vision Five Million” with an objective to attract 5 million tourists in Nepal by 2030.

    PATA Nepal has committed to play an instrumental role as a software partner to initiate dialogues with all the stakeholders on major issues including Infrastructure, policy reforms, and marketing among others.

    Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Nepal Chapter revealed this vision at its 41st Annual General Meeting held under the theme “Vision 5 Million” Tourists by 2030.

    The “PATA Personality of the Year 2017 Award “was presented to senior tourism personality Karna Sakya during the annual general meeting.  Sakya is the founder of KGH Group of Hotel and Resorts and Sakaratmak Soch.

    Similarly, the Best Student Chapter of the Year 2017 was awarded to Nepal College of Travel and Tourism Management for their contribution towards PATA Nepal Student Chapter initiatives.

    On the occasion, Former Vice-Chairman of National Planning Commission Dr. Yuv Raj Khatiwada emphasized on balanced tourism development in terms of both quantity and quality.

    “Vision 5 million is achievable with collaborative efforts of public and private sectors as well as the changing scenario in Nepali politics towards the stable government, “he added.

    Secretary at Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Maheshwor Neupane and CEO of Nepal Tourism Board Deepak Raj Joshi expressed their views  on different aspects of tourism promotion and development.

    The senior tourism entrepreneur and outgoing chairman Suman Pandey highlighted on successful Himalayan Travel Mart 2017 and various activities implemented by the organization during his leadership of PATA Nepal Chapter.

    Newly elected Chairman of PATA Nepal Chapter Sunil Shakya hoped that the tourism sector will develop due to political stability in the coming years.

    “PATA Nepal will continue to work with the spirit of PATA International and is committed to work closely with the government tourism-related associations and private sectors to develop tourism in the country,” Sakya said.

    PATA Nepal Chapter elects new Executive Committee

    Similarly ,  PATA Nepal Chapter unanimously elected new Executive Committee under the Chairmanship of Sunil Sakya, Chairman of KGH Group of Hotel & Resorts.

    The annual general meeting elected Deepak Raj Joshi and Janak Raj Kalakheti as 1st Vice Chairman and 2nd Vice Chairman respectively.

    Senior tourism entrepreneur and founder of Himalayan Holidays Trekking Bibhuti Chand Thakur has been elected General Secretary, whereas Shiva Prasad Dhakal is the new treasurer of the association. The elected Ex officio members are Rabindra Shrestha, Krishna Lamsal , Shraddha Shrestha and  Subhash Jha .

    The new members in the executive committee are –  Sanjay Bhakta Mathema  , Vinaya Shakya,  Abdullah Tuncer Kececi ,  Khem Raj Lakai , Tika Ram Sapkota ,  Tashi Gurung , and  Abhishek Bikram Shah .

    The proxy members include Samba Shah, Ms. Pragya Sharma, Ms. Manjani Shrestha, Ms. Reetal Rana, Ram Barakoti, Prabhakar Khadka and Lila Dhar Bhandari.
