    Tourist arrivals encouraging in Nepal ; 975,557 tourists in the first ten months of 2019

    A total of 975,557 tourists visited Nepal in the first ten months ( January–October ) of 2019 , of which 820,499 international visitors came by air and 155,058 by overland.

    The tourism sector of Nepal enjoyed a sustained growth in international tourist arrivals to Nepal in October 2019 welcoming 143,870 total tourists in October this year,  10 per cent more than the arrival in same month last year.

    A total of 123,267 visitors came by air, whereas 20,603 by overland, according to a statement issued by NTB.

    Tourist arrivals from India in October 2019 increased by 9.1 per cent in comparison to the figures of October 2018 and reached 12,707.

    A total of 169,952 Indian tourists visited Nepal in the first ten months (January-October) of 2019 .

    The overall arrivals from SAARC countries registered a growth of 7 per cent in October over the same month last year with 21,720 total tourist arrivals.

    Likewise, 15,037 Chinese tourists visited Nepal in October 2019, 11.5 per cent more than the arrivals in same month of 2018. Total arrival from China in the first ten months (January – October) of 2019 reached 134,281.

    Similarly, the visitors from Thailand, South Korea and Japan in October 2019 were 3,698, 3,032 and 2,541 respectively.

    The European arrivals have also surged with sustained growths from the key markets with 42,297 total arrivals in October 2019.

    Arrivals from the United Kingdom, Germany and France in October 2019 were 8,672, 7,308, and 6,777 respectively. Total European Visitors in the first ten months (January-October) of 2019 reached 199,003.

    Total number of the US visitors to Nepal in October 2019 was 12,109. The total US arrivals in first ten months (January-October) of 2019 reached 77,798, an increase of 5 per cent over the figures of last year.

     Likewise, the number of Australian and Canadian visitors to Nepal in October 2019 was 5,625 and 2,624 respectively.

    Deepak Raj Joshi, CEO of Nepal Tourism Board remarked that the growth of international visitor’s arrival is possible only because of the synergy in our efforts along with private sector, diplomatic missions, Nepalese diaspora, media and other stakeholders.
