• TripAdvisor names Travellers’ Choice Destinations

    Bangkok –  TripAdvisor, the world’s largest travel site*,  announced the winners of its 2012 Travellers’ Choice Destinations on the Rise awards. The awards recognise destinations that have seen the greatest increase in positive traveller feedback and traveller interest, year-over-year.

    The world’s top 10 destinations on the rise were named, as well as top 10 lists for the U.S., Europe, Asia, South Pacific and South America.

    “Interestingly, Jakarta has topped the list of Asian destinations, beating Osaka, Kathmandu, Chiang Mai and Phnom Penh to name a few,” said Jean Ow-Yeong, TripAdvisor spokesperson. “These awards are great accolades for the cities as not only are they based on increasing traveller interest but also increasing positive feedback about the cities’ hotels, restaurants and things to do.”

      Dubai – As tourism destinations in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) continue to grow, involving local communities in destination development has become increasingly vital for long-term success.

      Abu Dhabi’s Tourism Strategy 2030 aims for 39.3 million visitors per year, while Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 targets 150 million domestic and international visits, emphasising how tourism is being established as a key element of economic diversification throughout the region.

      Arabian Travel Market 2025, held under the theme “Global Travel: Developing Tomorrow’s Tourism Through Enhanced Connectivity”,  featured more than 200 speakers across three content stages and welcomes over 55,000 travel professionals from 166 countries.
