• Vietnam: Asian arrivals targets attainable

    An influx of tourists from Asian countries such as Thailand, South Korea, Malaysia, Taiwan and Japan has resulted in a significant rise in the number of foreign tourists visiting Vietnam this year.
    The increase in visitation will aid the South East Asian nation in achieving its goal of welcoming 6.5 million foreign travellers by the close of 2012.
    The number of foreign tourists who visited Vietnam reached 4.38 million in the first eight months of this year, up 9.4 percent against the same period last year, according to Viet Nam news.
    The sudden rise in tourist arrivals has been attributed to positive reactions to tourism promotion, improved quality of tourism products and services, the development of new infrastructure and an enhanced legal framework.
    “The large-scale and high-quality projects have helped develop infrastructure, such as high-class resorts in Da Nang City and Binh Thuan Province,” Vietnam National Administration of Tourism director Nguyen Van Tuan said.
    Vietnam’s tourism industry is working toward an annual growth rate of 11.5-12 percent for international visitors.
    Industry experts estimate that Vietnam’s total tourist revenue in 2030 will double that of 2020.Source – eTravel Blackboard

      Dubai – As tourism destinations in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) continue to grow, involving local communities in destination development has become increasingly vital for long-term success.

      Abu Dhabi’s Tourism Strategy 2030 aims for 39.3 million visitors per year, while Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 targets 150 million domestic and international visits, emphasising how tourism is being established as a key element of economic diversification throughout the region.

      Arabian Travel Market 2025, held under the theme “Global Travel: Developing Tomorrow’s Tourism Through Enhanced Connectivity”,  featured more than 200 speakers across three content stages and welcomes over 55,000 travel professionals from 166 countries.
