    World Tourism 2019 – Tourism entrepreneurs felicitated for their contribution

    Kathmandu: Nepal celebrated the 40th World Tourism Day by organizing different programs all over the country today. The theme of this year is “Tourism and Jobs: A Better Future For All”.

    World Tourism Day is celebrated all over the world on September 27 since 1980 as decided by Madrid based – United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).

    The event started with welcoming of tourists who arrived by the first flight at the Tribhuvan International Airport.

    Minister of State for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Dhan Bahadur Buda, MoCTCA Secretary Kedar Bahadur Adhikari, Chief Executive Officer of Nepal Tourism Board Deepak Raj Joshi, and National Coordinator for Visit Nepal Year 2020 Suraj Vaidya highlighted on different tourism activities at a program held at Ganatantra Park in Kathmandu.

    On the occasion, the Ministry of Tourism awarded different organizations and entrepreneurs for their contribution on tourism development of the country.

    Qatar Airways was awarded for carrying the highest number of tourists to Nepal and Flight Connection Domestic Private Ltd. was awarded as the highest foreign currency generator in 2018.

    Hotel Soaltee Crowne Plaza was awarded for highest tourism employment generation, Kalinchowk Darshan Pvt. Ltd. for domestic tourism development, Bakery Café for providing employment opportunities, Fish Tail Lodge in Pokhara for its corporate social responsibility and Buddha Air for highest revenue payer for the year 2075/76.

    Similarly, Seven Summit Treks Pvt. Ltd was awarded as the highest royalty generator and Namche Thumki Community Homestay for their contribution on promotion of domestic tourism.

    The government honored Chairman of Seven Summit Treks Mingma Sherpa for being the largest taxpayer trekking and expedition company in the country.  Seven Summit Treks paid 930 thousand USD (NRS 105.1 million) as royalty to the government in the last fiscal year for organizing expedition teams in the Himalayas.

    Three rural areas– Chalisa village in Ruby valley of Dhading, Phaparkhet Jhuleni in Kathekhola of Baglung and Dhunsa in  Faktanglung of Taplejung district were declared new village destinations at a main program held on the occasion of World Tourism Day.

      Arabian Travel Market 2025, held under the theme “Global Travel: Developing Tomorrow’s Tourism Through Enhanced Connectivity”,  featured more than 200 speakers across three content stages and welcomes over 55,000 travel professionals from 166 countries.
