China International Travel Mart-2012 commits to foster tourism

Shanghai: The China International Travel Mart (CITM) 2012 concluded in Shanghai with a commitment to foster tourism.
The CITM 2012, jointly hosted by the China National Tourism Administration (CNTA), the Civil Aviation Administration of China and the Shanghai Municipal Government, ended with signing of various contracts and agreements.
More than buyers from 104 countries and regions participated in the China International Travel Mart. The display space of the CITM extended to 57,500 square meters in a bid to meet the growing demand of exhibitors in Shanghai New International Expo Center.
Altogether 1,582 booths from China and 932 international booths displayed their tourism products in this Mart.
The CITM is the largest professional travel mart in Asia and is held in Shanghai and Kunming city in southwest China’s Yunnan province alternately since 2001.
Thousands of visitors attended the CITM 2012 on the concluding day of the Mart.
Major international tourist generating countries including USA, UK, and European countries participated in the mart.
According to Li Shihong, head of the CNTA’s Department of Tourism Promotion and International Liaison, the Chinese have emerged as the third-biggest spenders in outbound tourism worldwide.
China has also been the third-largest tourism destination in the world after France and USA.
The CITM 2012 was held in Shanghai New International Expo Center from November 15 to 18. ( More news on Travel Shows Column )
