    Nepal promoted in ITB Berlin 2014

    Kathmandu: Nepal promoted its tourism products at one of the world’s leading travel trade fair ITB Berlin 2014 held in Berlin, Germany.

    ITB Berlin 2014 reported a four percent rise in trade visitors and an increase in business volume, which Messe Berlin estimates reached 6.5 billion euros.

    Nepal took centre stage of the South Asian pavilion with the stand decorated purely on Nepalese style, a statement issued by Nepal Tourism Board (NTB ) stated.

    Among the top visitors in the Nepal’s stand were Jurgen Klimke, Member of Parliament, Bundestag, Germany, and Ms. Alessandro Rais, DirigenteGenerale, Regional Minister of Tourism of Sicily.

    The Secretary of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Sushil Ghimire and Acting CEO of Nepal Tourism Board Subash Nirola briefed them about the tourism of Nepal and requested them for mutual cooperation in tourism.

    Altogether, 21 travel trade companies of Nepal actively participated in the ITB Berlin 2014.

    Likewise, Nepal Tourism Board organized Naturally Nepal program under the banner of Mt. Everest Diamond Jubilee celebration at ICC Hall, Messe Berlin on March 6.

    On this occasion Sushil Ghimire, Secretary of Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation and Chairman of Nepal Tourism Board conferred the Mt. Everest Diamond Jubilee medal to Prof. Wolfgang Nairz, who led the expedition to Mt. Everest that placed ReinoldMerssner and Peter Habeler on the top of Everest without artificial oxygen in 1978.

    During the event, Sesh Ghale, President of NRN International Coordination Committee, committed to work for the promotion of Nepal’s tourism in more than 50 countries where the NRNs are based. Similarly, Dil Gurng, NTB’s Honorary PRR in Germany, spoke on the occasion highlighting Nepal as a destination for all seasons with its temperate and pleasant weather disposition.

    According to Managing Director and Editor of Image Nepal Travel magazine Hari Raj Joshi , one of the participant at ITB Berlin 2014 , most of the visitors at travel trade fair were interested to know on new tourism products of newly emerging travel destinations of the Asia- Pacific region including Nepal.

    More than 10,147 exhibitors from 189 countries participated at the ITB Berin 2014 held from March 5 to 9 in Berlin , Germany.

      Arabian Travel Market 2025, held under the theme “Global Travel: Developing Tomorrow’s Tourism Through Enhanced Connectivity”,  featured more than 200 speakers across three content stages and welcomes over 55,000 travel professionals from 166 countries.
