Nepal – Tourist arrivals up in April – May 2014

Kathmandu: A total of 51,105 international tourists visited Nepal in May 2014, whereas the arrival of international visitors by air was 68,018 in the month of April 2014.
According to the Immigration Office at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) , the arrivals from India , Bangladesh, Srilanka and Pakistan recorded a positive growth of 2.68 per cent, 32.24 per cent, 5.19 per cent and 59.75 per cent respectively.
The overall arrival from the SAARC region registered positive growth by 5.58 per cent as compared to the figures last year.
Arrivals from Asia (other than South Asia region) have also recorded positive growth of 18.91 per cent. Visitor arrivals from People’s Republic of China, Singapore, South Korea , Chinese Taipei and Thailand have recorded positive growth , but arrival from Japan and Malaysia registered negative growth.
Europe registered overall positive growth of 8.30 per cent compared to the same month last year with total visitor arrivals of 7,870.
Arrivals from the U.K, France, Spain, The Netherlands, Norway and Switzerland posted positive growth in May 2014.
Tourist arrivals from USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand have increased.
Similarly, 68,018 international visitors arrived in Nepal in the month of April 2014 with an increment of 25.68 per cent compared to the same month last year.
The arrivals from South Asian region have shown overall positive growth of 10.39 percent .The arrivals from Bangladesh ,Sri Lanka , India ,Peoples Republic of China , Malaysia, South Korea, Japan and Singapore were up in April 2014.
