    Qatar Tourism launches GCC-wide Eid promotion campaign

    Doha , Qatar :Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) has launched a GCC-wide advertising campaign to promote events and activities taking place in Qatar during Eid in an effort to attract regional visitors.

    QTA will be marketing the Eid Al-Fitr festival in the five GCC countries of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates and Oman in all forms of local media. The festival will be a seven-day extravaganza starting on the first day of Eid.

    Tourism data released by QTA on the results of the first quarter of 2014 revealed that the total number of visitors from around the world rose by 26 percent, while the percentage of visitors from Kuwait rose by a staggering 42 percent.

    Tourism data from the same period showed that total GCC visitors grew by 5 percent, with 188,621 tourists from Saudi Arabia, making it the largest single source of GCC visitors.

    “Our aim is to make Qatar a favorable destination not only for international but also for GCC visitors. Given that we share the same values, culture and traditions, it becomes our duty to make Qatar as approachable and attractive to them as possible, particularly during the Eid festivities, so that we can celebrate together,” said Rashed Al Qurese, Marketing and Promotion Director of QTA.

    QTA is teaming up with various entities to make it a memorable Eid Festival These include: the Ministry of Culture, Arts, and Heritage; Katara Cultural Village; Souq Waqif; The Pearl-Qatar; Qatar Shooting and Archery Association; Lusail Circuit; Al Dosari Zoo and Game Reserve; Al Rayyan Radio; and Aqua Park Qatar. And the shopping malls participants are: Hyatt Plaza, City Center Doha, Landmark, Al Khor Mall, Lagoona Mall, and The Mall.

    Last year’s successful Eid Festival saw more than 75,000 people visiting Qatar. QTA oversaw preparations to receive, residents and regional visitors, ensuring their enjoyment of the entertainment activities, games, and celebrations organized by QTA and supporting organizations. Dozens of cultural and entertainment activities are scheduled for the seven-day event across Qatar. They are suitable for all ages and preferences.
