• Etihad launches ‘farm-to-table’ initiative

    Abu Dhabi  :Etihad Airways has announced it will supply fresh organic produce on its in-flight First Class dining menus through its exclusive partnership with Abu Dhabi Organics Farms.

    The new ‘farm-to-table’ initiative has been designed together with Abu Dhabi Organics farm to set the ultimate in-flight standards for the airlines customers.
    Abu Dhabi Organics Farms meets the highest international quality standards and will provide a range of fresh food products from eggs and vegetables to organic honey to be served on board.

    The airlines First Class Chefs will begin to incorporate these ingredients in their on board services, with plans to launch the farm- to-table concept across all cabin classes.

    Abu Dhabi Organics Farms Chairman Mr Al Shamsi said the farm works with the Food & Agricultural Organization of the United Nations and has been awarded the food security medal.

    “We are a member of the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements which issues accreditation for organic produce, and we have received Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points certification for our hygiene and food safety measures,” Mr Al Shamsi said.
    “We are immensely proud to become a supplier for Etihad Airways and to know that our produce will be flown across the world and enjoyed by their guests.”

    Etihad Airways Chief Commercial Officer Peter Baumgartner said Etihad Airways is proud to support the Abu Dhabi Organics Farms.
    “Abu Dhabi Organics Farms is also a great fit with our aim to offer the very best in the air,” Mr Baumgartner said.
    “We have always offered the freshest and healthiest foods available, but with this new partnership, our guests can even enjoy produce the same day it was harvested or even an egg the same day it was laid.”
