Japan’s National Day and 81st birthday of Emperor Akihito celebrated in Nepal

Kathmandu : Ambassador of Japan to Nepal Masashi Ogawa said that Japan and Nepal have maintained friendly relations since the establishment of diplomatic relations and Japan is committed to further strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
Addressing a function organized at his official residence, Ambassador Ogawa expressed his hope for progress in formulating a new constitution in Nepal.
Ambassador Masashi Ogawa hosted a reception today to celebrate the 81st auspicious Birthday of His Majesty the Emperor Akihito at his official Residence, Tahachal.
Emperor is the symbol of the nation and the national unity in Japan and the day is also celebrated as the National Day of Japan. Emperor Akihito turns 81 years on December 23, 2014.
‘The Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko (the then Crown Prince and Crown Princess) visited Nepal in 1960 and 1975.The relationship has been consolidated further by high level visits to both the countries, ‘ he said.
Ambassador Ogawa hoped that the number of Japanese tourists visiting Nepal would increase in the coming years.
A total of 26,694 Japanese tourists visited Nepal in 2013.
Some four hundred guests including Vice President Paramananda Jha, ministers , politicians, ambassadors and heads of international organizations in Nepal, high ranking government officials and personalities of different sector of Nepali socio-economic life attended the reception.
