Tourism Investment Summit in February 2020

Kathmandu ( RSS) – The Visit Nepal 2020 secretariat will organize Tourism Investment Summit in February 2020 with an objective to promote Nepal’s tourism. The date for the event is, however, not decided.

According to the Visit Nepal 2020’s national program coordinator Suraj Vaidya, the event will see on-the-spot agreement signing between the two parties for the investment in the tourism sector of Nepal. “So far the entrepreneurs from the Middle East have expressed willingness for the investment in Nepal,” Vaidya said.

The event will be held in association with the Asian Development Bank, the World Bank and International Finance Corporation (IFC). He claimed that this summit will be different from the one held so far in Nepal.

“There will be agreement signing ceremony too besides exploring the prospect of tourism and deliberating on such issues, “he said. Entrepreneurs from India, China, Europe and the Middle East will participate besides those from the host countries.

Discussion among the Chief Ministers from seven provinces and private sectors would be held during the event.

The event will also focus on promotional activities aimed at developing Province no 2 as a spiritual tourist destination. Province no 2 houses Janaki Mandir, the birth place of one of the 24 Jain Gurus.

Activities aimed at reforming Tribhuvan International Airport will be undertaken so as to set an example for a reception for guests and visitors.

Similarly , he has urged all to extend support from their sides to make the year successful.

“We’ve little time left to launch the campaign in full swing. The Visit Nepal is a collective campaign- not of mere government or organization. It is beneficial to all, to the country,” he reminded.

The official launch of the Visit Year would be held in the last week of coming December, according to the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation.

He shared that the budget for the publicity and campaigning was not adequate- only Rs 100 million. But the campaign must be made successful. “We’re here to work as volunteers. Even the media persons have vital role to make this mega campaign successful,” he reiterated.

The government has aimed at bringing in 2 million tourists in the Visit Nepal Year 2020. It was given priority in the current budget as well.

Various promotional programmes are underway across the country and abroad in the view of the Visit Year.

Five priorities for the Visit Year are, culture, adventure, spiritual programme, wildlife and mice tourism, according to Vaidya. New destinations were being promoted by expanding the tourism centered in Kathmandu, Pokhara, Chitawan and Annapurana area.

Similarly, goodwill ambassadors for the Visit Year were being appointed. Nepal festivals would be held in India and China coming November.
