    First Nepal India China Tourism Expo to be held in February 2020

    Kathmandu: Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Nepal Chapter in collaboration with Visit Nepal Year 2020 and Nepal Tourism Board will organize  Nepal – India – China Expo (NICE) from 21 to 24 February, 2020.

    More than 1000 delegates from three countries including 200 regional buyers, 100 exhibitors, 15 high-value speakers, and hundreds of guests and delegates including government officials, and trade visitors are expected to participate in NICE 2020.

    Nepal – India – China Expo (NICE) will be a major tourism event to mark the national celebration of Visit Nepal Year 2020. 

    Addressing a press meet today , PATA Nepal Chapter Chairman Sunil Sakya said that  Nepal – India – China Expo (NICE) , a noble concept envisioned by PATA Nepal Chapter as the first tri-nation tourism expo, will bring together tourism and hospitality stakeholders and organizations from public and private sectors of the three neighboring countries  Nepal, India and China  on a single platform by facilitating all three nations with unparalleled networking and business opportunities, industry insights and inspiration.  

    China and India are two of the largest outbound source markets in the world with Nepal as one of its immediate recipient nations. Approximately 150 million Chinese traveled abroad, out of which only 0.1 per cent visited Nepal while only 0.75 per cent Indian tourists visited Nepal out of 25.85 million total Indian outbound in 2018. 

    “We believe that NICE will play an instrumental role in strengthening the tourism ties between the three countries adding significant value in support of the target set by the Govt. of Nepal with the Visit Nepal Year 2020. The envisaged expo shall pave the foundation for meeting our vision of bringing in 5 million tourists into the country by the year 2030, “Sakya said.

    On the occasion, Suraj Vaidya, national coordinator of Visit Nepal Year 2020, informed on different activities of promotional campaigns to be held in both the neighboring countries – India and China in 2020.

    CEO of Nepal Tourism Board Deepak Raj Joshi stressed on joint promotional campaigns of the private and government sector to attract more tourists from India and China, the fastest growing economies in the world tourism market.

    A total of 194,323 Indian tourists visited Nepal in 2018, while the number of tourist arrival from China was 153,633 in 2018.

    Suresh Singh Budal , CEO of PATA Nepal Chapter , highlighted on different aspects of NICE-2020.

    “The main objective of this expo is to bring together the two emerging giant economies and tourism powerhouses – India and China to foster the untapped tourism potentials and integrated business opportunities with Nepal as a facilitator. NICE aims to further help to consolidate the relationship between the three countries, focusing mainly in the field of tourism and hospitality,” Budal said.

    High level officials of different travel and tourism related organizations were present on the occasion.
