‘Splendid Hunan’ cultural performance in Nepal to celebrate 70th anniversary of founding of People’s Republic of China

Kathmandu – Hunan Performing Arts Group artists performed “Splendid Hunan” cultural performance here to mark the celebration of 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.
The event, organized by China Cultural Center in Nepal and China’s Hunan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, was held to strengthen cultural cooperation and exchange between China and Nepal to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.
On the occasion of “Splendid Hunan” cultural performance, more than 15 artists from Hunan Song and Dance Theater Co. and Hunan Puppet and Shadow Art Protection and Inheritance Center performed group dance, flute solo, acrobatics, Miao dance, puppet show, Yao dance, Erhu solo, face changing Bianlian and festive dance of Tujia ethnic group.
On the occasion, Secretary at Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Nepal K.B. Adhikari highly evaluated economic transformation and modernization of China including rich natural and cultural attractions of China.
Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Ms. Hou Yanqi said that the cultural performance by artists from Hunan will contribute to strengthen cultural exchanges between the two countries.
Similarly, He Weimiao of Department of Culture and Tourism of Hunan Province, highlighting on natural and cultural attractions of Hunan Province, urged Nepali people to visit and experience tourism attractions of beautiful Hunan.
Hunan Province, located in the southern part of the middle reaches of the Yangtze River, has a total area of 211,800 square km. with a total population of more than 73 million, and is home to the Tujia, Miao, Yao, Dong, Bai, Hui and Zhuang ethnic groups. The province governs 12 cities at the prefectural level, 11 administrative offices and one autonomous prefecture and the provincial capital is Changsha.
Hunan, hometown of Chairman Mao Zedong, has become one of the new hot tourist destinations in China.
Hunan has two world natural heritage sites in Zhangjiajie and Langshan and one world cultural heritage site in Laosicheng .
The province received 753 million domestic and foreign tourists in 2018, ranking 5th in China .
