Nepal to suspend visa-on-arrival for the nationals of five countries

The Government of Nepal has decided to temporarily suspend visa-on-arrival for the nationals of the five countries , effective from 10 March, 2020 to till further notice.
According to the Immigration Department, the nationals from People’s Republic of China (including Special Administrative Regions) , Islamic Republic of Iran, Italy, Republic of Korea and Japan can obtain visa prior to their visit to Nepal from the Nepali Missions abroad.
Applicants in these countries are required to submit a recently issued health certificate with the visa application
“The Government of Nepal is monitoring the spread of Corona Virus (COVID-19). Taking into account the global recommendations and measure of the WHO, the Government of Nepal has decided to temporarily suspend visa-on-arrival for the nationals of the five countries “, DOI said.
Earlier, the government decided to cancel major promotional activities of Visit Nepal Year 2020 in the overseas markets for the time being.
Supreme Court orders to halt International Flights
Meanwhile, a single bench of Supreme Court Justice Tej Bahadur K.C. issued an interim order to halt international flights for some days or months to prevent possible spread of COVID-19 in Nepal.
Advocate Purna Rajbanshi had filed a writ petition requesting the court to issue an interim order to carry out health check-up of everyone entering the country, halt flights from the affected countries and suspend visas to the nationals of the countries affected by the virus.
The court issued an interim order to halt all direct and transit flights to Nepal from China, Japan, South Korea , Iran and Baharain.
Similarly, the court ordered the government to carry out health check-up of the nationals entering Nepal from the virus affected countries and take other measures to control COVID-19.
