Police investigates nine gamblers including hotel owner, Honorary Consul of Guinea to Nepal

Kathmandu: The Kathmandu District Administration Office has provided a five-day remand order to begin further police investigation into the gambling case on Tuesday.
Nine businessmen, including a hotel owner and Honorary Consul of Guinea to Nepal , were arrested on the charge of gambling here on June 1 .
A team of police from the Metropolitan Police Circle arrested the gamblers red-handed from Gangaur Boutique Hotel in Kamaladi on Monday night.
Gangaur Regency Boutique Hotel is owned by Nikki Jugai, a permanent resident of Kolkata, India. He has been running chain hotel business in Nepal.
According to police sources, Jugai has long been operating one of the hotel rooms for gambling as a mini-casino.
The arrested businessmen charged with gambling include Nikki Jugai, Purushottam Agrawal, Ram Chandra Sanghai, Suresh Kumar Agrawal, Nanda Kishor Sharma, Ashok Kumar Agrawal , Gobinda Agrawal ,Bimal Khetan and Bimal Ahuja.
Among the arrested gamblers, Ashok Kumar Agrawal was identified as Honorary Consul of Guinea to Nepal and Ram Chandra Sanghai as founder member of Triveni Group and Director of NIC Bank Asia.
The arrest of Honorary Consul Agrawal comes barely two months after an Honorary Consul of Kyrgyzstan to Nepal and Managing Director of Vishal Group Sulav Agrawal was arrested on the charge of black marketeering in COVID -19 medical equipment.
Police have seized Rs 277,000 in cash and 79 units of coins with the denominations of Rs 5, 50 and 100 from those arrested nine gamblers.
