Nepal participates in EURO ASIA Economic Forum 2013 in Xian

Kathmandu: The EURO ASIA Economic Forum 2013 stressed on mutual cooperation of all the countries of the region to achieve the goals of sustainable development and economic prosperity.
EURO ASIA Economic Forum 2013 , held in Xian city of Peoples’ Republic of China this week , discussed on range of different topics such as financial collaboration, energy, economy and growth, culture and heritage, education and talent, innovation and emerging industry, tourism partnership, logistic partnership and service industry.
The Vice Premier and other Provincial dignitaries from China along with President of Afghanistan Hamid Karzhai attended the opening ceremony of the conference held on September 26 ,2013 in Xian.
Dignitaries from different countries participated and discussed on economic agenda of the Asian and European countries.
Basically Shanghai Cooperation Organization being major agency in organizing this conference, China’s economic interest is seen oriented in consolidating emerging European countries and central Asian countries.
The conference also discussed on issues of Silk Road Economic Zones to promote tourism partnership between the Asian and European countries.
During the Plenary session of Tourism Partnership of the conference, Dr Linbava Moreva from UNESCO, former Minister for Tourism of Greece Pavlos Yeroulanos , Vice Minister of Tourism from Indonesia Dr. Sapta Nirwandar and Chairman of International Tourism Institute Janez Sirse shared their views on different aspects of international tourism.
Prachanda Man Shrestha, former CEO of Nepal Tourism Board, presented his paper on ‘ Working Together to Brand Multi-country Tourism Product’. His presentation focused on international, regional and local collaboration in developing institutions and instruments for cross border tourism.
Tourism expert Shrestha shared Nepal’s experience of risk and challenges in developing multi-country tourism products with India and China as Buddhist Circuit and The Great Himalayan Trails. ‘Lessons and learning could be good guidelines to develop tourism products along the countries of Silk Road in complementing each other for its benefit,’ he added.
Xi’an, the capital city of northwest China’s Shaanxi province, was once the start of the famous Silk Road which linked China with Central Asia and the Roman Empire.
The Euro-Asia Economic Forum, initiated in 2005 to promote economic exchanges between Asia and Europe, is held every alternative year in Xian. Xi’an is permanent venue of the forum since 2007.
