‘ India to work with Nepal on tourism promotion’

Kathmandu: Indian Ambassador to Nepal Ranjit Rae stressed on strengthening bilateral cooperation to promote travel and tourism between Nepal and India.
Addressing 51st Annual General Meeting of Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA) here today, Ambassador Rae committed to work with Nepal on developing tourism and attracting more tourists in both the countries.
“Nepal has everything to offer to Indian tourists. India will work with Nepal to promote more Indian tourists .Nepal has great potentialities of attracting high value and quality tourists from India,” he added.
Rae said that every Indian liked to visit Pashupatinath temple, Muktinath, Lumbini and other pilgrimage centers of Nepal.He underlined the need of advancing a plan of action in coordination of the governments of the two countries for the promotion of tourism and developing Buddhist circuits in both the countries.
On the occasion Officiating CEO of Nepal Tourism Board Ms. Nandini Lehe Thapa , NATTA Advisor Prachanda Man Shrestha ,NATTA President D.B. Limbu , 1st Vice President Shambhu Raj Pathak and CEO Dr. Hari Sarmah stressed on public-private partnership and strategy to attract more tourists from two neighbouring countries India and China.
A total of 1, 80,974 Indian tourists and 113,179 Chinese tourists visited Nepal in 2013.
India and Nepal signed an agreement on tourism promotion during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Nepal in November 2014. Both the countries have established sister-city relationships between Kathmandu – Benaras, Janakpur- Ayudhya and Lumbini- Sarnath.
On the occasion, ten travel agencies were awarded with ‘ 25 Years of Cooperation Award ‘.
The 51st AGM of NATTA passed the report presented by NATTA Secretary General Ms. Mihika Dhakhwa and Treasurer Narayan Pd. Gurung Koney.
NATTA , established in 1966 , unites more than 474 travel agencies of the country.
